I am extremely concerned about where this pattern could go, seriously I'm not saying that because of JB. When was the last time a cut-off low dropped off the west coast in such a weak ENSO phase...1956. That just happened to be a winter where numerous winter records where broken, mainly in snowfall. What happened was a trof dropped down on the west coast, but father enough away so that a board ridge formed in the mid-west, but not the east! NO, in fact the polar vortex dropped numerous short-waves right into the east, keeping the New England in the icebox, creating another trof in east. A nor-Easter formed, and phased with a short-wave off the east coast...when this happened there was no push, because blocking down stream. This created a storm off the mid-Atlantic coast that lasted for a week!! Unfortunately it created warmer maritime air to wrap around the storm and put it under the record level, but never the less it was an amazing storm. The point of the matter is if this occurred now- with the massive cold pool in Canada it would be a nightmare.

it's already snowing here and as of last night we were only supposed to get a rain/snow mix. Now they're talking about 2 to 4 inches!!! It was a total shock seeing snow on the ground this morning!
