I have a nice little snow storm progged for my area east...and then expected a break with a cold front that places New England back in the ice box. I can't stress enough how snowy it could get, the GFS even has the idea that we face numerous back to back snowstorms. We have found out this year that when the NAO is positive it can still get cold, did I metion COLD here. The pattern change was progged for today, and it did come true only the trof was transient which is not surprising, and was mixed into the entire deal. Some of the analogs all seem to have to do with a rapid drop in the SOI signal, it looks like exterme cold follows 15 days later-could be a omen. That isn't to promising for a return of spring until late march. Uh-oh...looks like the groundhog was right, good job LI phil.
