thought i would tell you guys about our may 12th chase.
very sucsesful day catching over a dozen naders. started off around south plains, texas with several small twisters here and there as we chased meso after meso for what seemed like hours. eventualy caught a large twister but got very bad contrast on camera. chasers who got great contrast of this nader got pummeled by hail that destroyed windows, fenders and headlights.
we managed to outrun the core.
we decide to jump south towards lubbock and struck gold! a discreet cell decided to get its act together and put on a heck of a show! first wedge was rated an F3 and was 3/4 of a mile wide. it became rain wrapped so we decided to head north to see if we could get better contrast. as we were looking for the monster cloaked in rain a funnel quickley touched down to our southwest and began tracking directly towards us! we decided to jet south and outrun it across the road. we beat it by about 25 yards!
we turned around and witnessed several more twisters until a large multi-vortex formed and barely missed the town of ralls, texas.we then ventured east and saw several more tornados south of matador texas.all of this ocuured at nite which made it all the more exiting.
awesome chase! you can see some stills on our web site at www.holytornado.com and click on photos.video will be up soon along with more pics
