Help! Another Computer Question

My computer kept telling me I needed to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 so I finally did. Now, it is slower and acting goofy and when I close everything out and am back to just the desktop screen, a message pops up saying "out of memory at line 108". What is it talking about? I can't click on anything in the message box to find out what the hell 'line 108' is.
Can I go back to whatever I was using previously? (I don't know what version it was. I know...I'm stupid.../darn)
I also just recently installed "Family Tree Maker" which I think is a huge program. Could that be part of the problem?

Based on searches, looks like there needs to be more virtual memory - which makes sense based on what you have described. Which version of windows are you on, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista?

IE 9 is out now also,maybe shuld go up to 9 so you are current and will not need to upgrade for twice as log theoretically. (A lot of people do not use Internet Explorer - IE - and have gone to Google Chrome or something, but I am still old school and use IE because it usually works.)

(I) Don't think family tree maker is the problem

right click "My Computer" on your desktop
click properties
click advanced
there should be something called performance options, click that
something says total paging file size for all drives
Make a note of the number [mine I have set to 1850]

Double the number if it's less than 3000

click saves and ok's, 'x' out of everything and reboot (RESTART)

...There IS a way to uninstall IE 8, but I can't tell what it would go back to -
I use Firefox 3.6.15 and I've removed "Chrome"

Wind, in addition to ced and kobayashi's suggestions: click on Start. Move the pointer up to Settings, then click on Control Panel. In the window that opens, double-click on Internet Options. In the Internet Properties window that opens, in the middle of the General tab, you'll see a section titled Browsing history, click on the button that shows Delete... At the top of the new window, is a section titled Temporary Internet Files, click on the button that says Delete files...
Click on Yes in the pop-up window to confirm and then click on Close in the Delete Browsing History window. Then OK out and then close the Control Panel window. Reboot the PC and then open IE8 to see if it has returned to normal. If not, post again and we'll try something else.
IE9 will not install on Windows XP. Your PC must be running Vista or Windows 7 to install IE9.

Tried all that, mac. It is already checked to delete temporay internet files. I ran a couple of malware and antivirus scans; all ok there. I'm thinking I need to remove Family Tree Maker. That seems to be when the issues started.

I can only run the MLS from IE so I have to have it.

Quickbooks won't open. Telling me a "file has become unreadable". Intuit tells me it is a Windows problem and they wanted to charge me for tech support, so I'm going to (try to) fix it myself. Anyone else having Quickbooks Pro 2012 problems?
