Though the weather definitely affects them, it's not a weather phenominon. IMO it's one of the best times of the day and one I have a lot of passion for. Throw in your photos and let's compare.

Here's some from 2000 on Lake Champlain at South Hero, Vermont.

Ok I'll throw in a few more. Anyone that has read mj LJ has seen these before, but here goes for everyone else.

Photo 1: Sunset over Mexican waters with the Coronado Islands in the foreground from December 3, 2005. The ugly metal fence represents the International Border.

Photo 2: Mobile Bayway (how I love that view) February 7, 2006.

Photo 3: Ocean Beach (an enclave of San Diego, how I miss America's Finest City) sunset from November 11, 2005.

last two for now

I dunno what it is about boats, water, and sunsets, but the serenity makes for a blissful setting.

Ok last one for now, here's the waning sunlight over the Colame Hills in western California near the James Dean Memorial intersection taken on 11/27/05. Dan might be familiar with this area. /sweet1

Digging through more archived photos, here's a pair from Escambia Bay near the Interstate 10 bridges (taken 05/07/04). Keep in mind that these are the same bridges that Hurricane Ivan toppled just 4 months later... /cry

Here is a sunset I shot a few weeks ago after a severe storm moved through and there was a magnificent display of Mammatus clouds on the backside of the storm.

Its unfortunate the water is so cold on the Pacific Coast. Sorry Atlantic and Gulf residents, but the West Coast is 10 times more impressive.

It depends what you are talking about. I am sorry everyone, but Holly Beach in Cameron Parish blows all coast lines out the water!!
