BATON ROUGE -- A man who pleaded guilty to 10 counts of having sex with children in 1994 has been indicted on two counts of aggravated rape that includes an 11-year-old girl who gave birth to a child.
Authorities used DNA to determine that Eddie Orange, 52, of Baton Rouge, is the baby's father, according to an arrest warrant. The warrant alleged that the girl was acquainted with Orange and did not report the assault because she did not want him to get into trouble.
Prosecutor Sue Bernie said Thursday that a "concerned citizen" tipped authorities about the birth, which occurred in October. The alleged assault took place in early 2005, authorities said.
The second charge alleges that Orange raped the girl's older sister in June 2003.
Although the charge involving the younger girl carries a potential death penalty, Bernie said she would not seek it.
In 1994, Orange pleaded guilty to having sex with children and was placed on probation for five years.
Orange was jailed in lieu of $200,000 bond.
