They think the missile could reach Alaska. The pipeline is in Alaska. I wonder what that'd do to gas prices.
That said, I hope we've got a good anti-missile battery set up there. I'm sure we do.
FYI - did you know there are ICBM silos here in Texas? How neat...
That is VERY scary... shows us that our government is really concerned about this... so, now they're saying this can only reach Alaska ? I thought it may be able to reach the west coast...

Their definition of the west coast is, at best, the northern tip of washington.

It would be bad enough if the N. Koreans fire off a missile at our west coast. To make matters worse, if our defense system fails, we might learn too late what they put into a missile. It seems possible that they could put in a nuclear warhead and launch it at us. I also read in the newspaper a while ago that the Iranians have obtained plans from the North Koreans for thier own long distance missile.

But neither of them have tested if it actually works, I dont think that they would use a warhead in a test. If it doesnt work right at all, they could blow them selves up. IMO

They better not MAY nothing!!! Shoot the SOB down!!/m16

Ya, but look how stupid they already are
And why is our country ASSUMING this is a "test" ????
If you were north korea (hypothetically of course) would you just do a "test" ? No, you would say "Eh, what the heck, let's fire it, if it works, it works, if it doesn't , it doesn;t "

But if it doesnt, lets say it doesnt even leave the country. They would have to at least take that into play. I agree, it would make since if it was real, but it doesnt seem logical if it hasnt been tested. If it was me, I would send in B2's and bomb the shit out of all of their depo's... but that wouldnt fly for anyone.
The thing is... America just isn't doing much about this ! Turn on CNN, Foxnews, or MSNBC.... are they covering this ? NO ! Our country is in danger of having a nuclear bomb fired at it... and no ones talking about it... WTF is going on here??!!? It's going to be too late !!!

Perhaps they think it could be a bluff.

What if it isn't ?

Then that would definatly be bad.

This would be an unarmed test if it is even fired off at all, which seems a little unlikely at present. Kinda hard to know how far it is going to fly with the added weight of a warhead :)
Me thinks North Korea, and even the US and others, are doing a bit of diplomatic sabre rattling at the moment. N Korea probably just wanted to make sure all of us were still paying attention. Well now they know we still are, so perhaps talks can restart with them.

They could put a dummy warhead on it, just to take place of the weight of the actual thing.

Macs? I'll move to Fedora, I think (cause I don't have to change hardware!)...
I wonder if the taepodong-2 missile has any electronic components that say "Made in Japan"?

As you can probably tell I'm not all that concerned there will be a launch; dummy warhead or otherwise. North Korea wants some stuff, and this is their way of reminding all of us of that.

Check this out: It looks like if they wanted to the North Koreans could toss a missle at the east coast from the west.

Ok, now they are just putting prediction distances EVERYWHERE!! At first, it was believed to reach the northern tip of Idaho, now from Northern Pacific to South America, WTF! Is a rabid chimp throwing a dart at a map?!? Alright, thats it time to move to Brazil...

I'm still waiting for that launch lol
The experts give a range of western Alaska as far as the US is concerned, idiot warhead or otherwise.

That should clear up some of the "where can it reach" questions.
Yes, the Taepodong-2 Missile is the one they are considering "test-firing".
Blah, those Korean missles, Taepodong, No-dong, etc... heh heh

I wanted to ask that, am I the only one that laughs when they say the name, taepodong-2. Not the fact that it exsist, just the name.

You are not alone.
I bet it's funny when they have questions about which one to fire...
Which <missile name> do we launch today?
