Hey Bob
Thanks for the excellent Cancun radar. My husband calls this "weather porn"!

wilma is looking as "good" (which is bad) as she has ever right now...just as she is posed to strike cozumel later today...i'd say she is back up to cat v status NOW, and the 11:00 am should probably reflect that...

aye. Looks to be one of those situations where a Cat'4/5 storm just skirts the very tip of land, manages to hold it's integrity, and then be ready for the next stage of its 'path of destruction'.

The eye looked a bit fragile earlier. Actually, just to the west of the current eye - on the Water vapour loop, looks like a new eye is going develop (or maybe I'm wrong).

In any case, wishing all those in that area well, it must be getting real bad there right now. So far, I've seen very little live footage online of this.

MSNBC and TWC are all saying she has made landfall in Cozumel as a strong Cat 4...

Wilma main thread - LI Phil - 10-21-2005 08:16 AM

her outer eyewall is JUST making landfall on cozumel now...she's ever so slightly north of where i thought she'd be right now, which isn't good because it means less time over the eastern tip of the yucatan peninsula...i still feel she'll be a cat v (officially) at 11 and that she emerges into the GOM as a III

i dont think she will stay over mexico as long as the NHC thinks either. This storm has been like the other this year, unique so i dont thnik she'll stay over mexico for two days i think she'll be in the GOM tommorrow morning.

Wilma main thread - The Bug - 10-21-2005 08:24 AM

Amazing how big her eye got!! It was so tiny the other day and now it is huge.

I am feeling more confident in that she will stay well to my South. That bad feeling is gone....

Thanks to all for teaching this meterology neophyte (taking Meteo 1010 right now). This site is invaluable and makes learning fun. I'm continually reminding myself, tho, that what I find exciting and fascinating to watch is dreadful for those actually experiencing it.
