you can see on the cancun radar she has an excellent structure and some very intense weather. Cozumel is getting the NW outer eyewall right now but it looks as if she is still moving NNW the eye will stay just offshore.

Does anyone have a link for the cancun weather radar?

The last few frames of the radar doesn't look too healthy for Wilma's eyewall. Could she be losing strength now?

Bill

She's likely to lose strength now, but the question is how much. The (frequently debated) NHC forecasted her to move inland a bit, but if she stays offshore the effects will be minimized. We'll likely have to wait and see how she looks when she clears the yucatan.

Wilma main thread - todd271828 - 10-21-2005 09:52 AM

BTW, 11AM advisory still has her at 145mph and I think the last recon was 929mb.

Wilma main thread - max2 - 10-21-2005 09:53 AM

How long do you think Cancon will see the maximum sustain winds of 145 mph with higher gusts sense Wilma is moving so slow ? Sad

Wilma main thread - Calrissian - 10-21-2005 10:08 AM

I was just using google earth...
Re: time of high winds.

I would think maybe 1-2 hrs at least of 100mph

*Distance from the lower tip of that little Island to top of the Yucatan is around 95 miles. So, for that eye to be clear of the Yucatan could be around 15-20 hours ! That sure is a lot time to grind down what looks to be such a beautiful area (well, its looks nice on Google Earth anyway).

Lots of purple/blue on the water/vap loop, Wilma looks strong, surely it'll still be Cat'4 when it finally clears the Yuc' area?
