max2 Wrote:I am talking about the direction its moving at the forward speed. Don't you add that to the top wind speed to get the maximum sustain wind speed people could see ?

For example lets say its 115 mph sustain winds and moving at 20 mph.

Don't you add 115 mph sustain winds to 20 mph and that means people could be seeing 135 mph sustain winds ?

Am I wrong?

You know.. I'm really not sure about that.. It does make some sense though. But, since the winds are rotational.. around the core.. and the storm is making forward progress.. I'm not sure if the forward speed would be signifigant or not. I'll look into it though..

Thanks.

This was has me worried for New York City. Though I know its hitting Fl. right now and we should focus on that now. I know it may not hit New York City now though.

Chris48 Wrote:Definatly not a cat 5. the shear is increasing over the strom and its moving too fast. It should be weakening a bit so I dont think we will see that. Heck I didnt think we would get the 135-140 C4 indicated by the vortex message now. oh well, Good luck to everyone else that has to deal with Wilma today. If I find somthing else interesting ill be sure to post untill power goes out. Still on temp power grids from last year, lol. see how long those last.

Yeah.. it'll be interesting to watch in the next few hours. We're on temp grids too.. since the main grid in New Orleans was messed up pretty bad. We lost power during Rita.. which was 200 miles west of us.. lol.

Good morning Katie,

Can you tell us what kind of weather you are having now?

Thanks.

Brian - I started a new thread...

just as I write this ... my sliding glass door is literally bowing. I can see it moving back and forth.....

crap, she is going to go right over my dad's nursery in South Highlands County according to the local news reports.

Y'all if you believe in prayers - please say them. Please. There is no way his nursery can withstand winds even at a strong Cat 2 and he isn't but 50 miles from the West Coast so, I really fear what winds his nursery will be facing.
