GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - It took just minutes for Port commissioners to approved a $1.6 billion expansion plan Friday morning. Once finished, the Port of Gulfport will become the country's largest container terminal.
Early in Mississippi's post Katrina recovery, Gov. Barbour requested that almost $600 million of CDBG money be earmarked for port recovery projects instead of home rebuilding plans. Since then, representatives of groups like the STEPS Coalition have said jobs over housing should have never happened.
Funding for the bulk of the port's proposal hasn't been identified yet.

Yeah Squirrel, you scared me a little with your enthusiasm. I usually on get that excited about Christmas, found money or boobies.
What do urine samples and Canadian beer have in common? The taste.
Sorry, Squirrel. I am having depression problems because of visions of Obama in the White House. I am getting an ulcer. I can't sleep.
But I am happy about your Port. It will be a good place to sail from when we all leave.
