    scartchhead Central Florida

    Hey All,

As you can all see by my profile i Live in a little town called Plant City, Florida. Plant City Lies about 15 miles east of Tampa along Interstate 4. This is important in the story. Since Jan 1, 2010 Today is the first day we have had temps above 60 degrees. The coldest on record ever we actually had snow in floirda in tampa SNOW IN TAMPA. Cool you say? Think again. Plant City and eastern Hillsborough County is known for the strawberry crops. For those who do not know in sub-zero temps berries must be watered constantly so a thin ice layer covers them and keeps them safe during the freezing temps. Well we have had 10 days of sub zero temps so the berries have been watered every night. How is this weather related you ask? The water being pumped out of the ground has drained the aquifer which is resulting in dry, crumbly ground. Which means SINKHOLES a lot of them. Here in Hillsborough County we have 20-30 new ones a day It also means dry wells. Right now there is over In a 110 square Mile area around Plant City the sinkholes are in the hundereds. Most are small But some are not so small. Read this: http://www.tampabay.com/news/environ...e-home/1064634 Thats 4 houses up on my street. Thats how Central Florida's Winter is going.

Say it now, there will never be a better time to let somebody know whats in your heart and on your mind. If you love someone dont let the sun go down, Say it now.

    Hey, I hear ya.

We were up north during the holidays and it was cold and we saw accumulating snow, esp. the last 8 days of the trip. When we left it was pouring the snow and cold.

When we got back to Florida it wasn't much different, except the snow of course. Our overnight lows from the 10th to the 14th were 22, 19, 24, 28.

All my tender plants are gone, even though they were covered and such.

I've been following the news and mercy on the sinkholes. Hopefully we'll get some rain this weekend that will help put more water in the ground.
