    EASTER Sunspot

Tonight I stared at the sun for a little bit, so to speak. I took this photo of a very large active sunspot, which has been causing northern lights events. The sunspot is over 150000km long, which is more than 11 Earths laid end-to-end.

I aimed my camera at the sun. I did need to put on a ND filter (reduces the amount of light the camera takes in), but if you take the picture closer to sunset you could probably do without that, even.

Yeah, I was bummed that this happened on a Monday night. If it was a Saturday, I would have dashed up into Canada as far as I could drive after work on Friday. It would have put me right under the activity.
