Jan 2011 139,330,000 - When the Democrats loss control of the House of Representatives
Dec 2011 140,790,000 - Latest numbers available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor

There is a loss of 1,397,000 jobs since Obama took office
and there was a loss of 6,698,000 jobs while the Democrats controlled both houses of the legislation
or the purse strings of the government.

Unemployment rate, 16 years and over

Jan 2007 -- 4.6 -- When the Democrats took control of both houses of the legislature
Jan 2009 -- 7.8 -- When the Democrats took control two branches of the government
Jan 2011 -- 9.1 -- When the Democrats loss control of the House of Representatives

The Unemployment rate has increased by 0.7 or increased by 8.97% since Obama took office
and the Unemployment rate increased by 4.5 or almost doubled (97.83%) while the Democrats controlled both houses of the legislature or the purse strings of the government.

Looking at the numbers, it is almost believable that the Democrats in 2007 - 2008, torpedoed the US economy to get a Democrat elected president. I know the news media sure talked down the economy before the '08 election, helping it to tank.

They revised their calculation so there are 1.2 Million less people in the job market today. They cut off the over 55 which mirrors what's been going on in the federal workforce - pressure older employees out.
