MuNkIe, I found two books called The Road. One by Cormac McCarthy and the other by Jerry Thompson. The McCarthy book was made into a movie and is be out on a DVD.

Audrey - 1957 - I was almost three and slept through it.
    Cindy - 1963 - First hurricane that I remember
Bonnie - 1986 - Watching all the transformers explode
Rita - 2005 - The sounds that I did not know my house could make & the roar
    Humberto - 2007 - Got 2" of rain
    Ike - 2008 - A long blow

It was the Cormac McCarthy one..........

I went and picked my son up and rocked him about 3:00 am because I couldn't sleep after reading it......

My Buddy who gave it to me calls it "The Feel Good Book of the Year............if by feel good you mean getting a tabasco sauce enema"
