TWC = attention whores. Nothing supports even remotely close to 80 mph at flight level... let alone the surface. NHC advisory in generous... and the pressure is on the rise once again.

No core = no hurricane. TWC should flood this message board again... they might learn something.

I think it means they are not operating out of Biloxi which is within the cone.

We are all buttoned up here in Bluewater Bay (Niceville, FL). We are still going to follow our original plan and go to Montgomery for two or three days. We will treat it as a vacation unless we get into horrible New Orleans traffic on I-65.

What's the "window of opportunity" for the storm to strengthen? Would we give it 24 hours?

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Just heard that traffic on the spillway (bridge between NOLA and BR) is not moving.

Storms can strengthen very near the coast. Before Katrina in 2005 there was Cindy. She was thought to be a tropical storm at landfall but was actually strengthening when she hit and days later was declared a Cat 1 hurricane after the evidence was reviewed. Isaac is a slow starter for sure, but we all know these storms can blow up rapidly. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst is always great advice - and never, ever decide a GOM storm is 'done' before landfall. Because it isn't.

Hello all, new to the site and checking in from the Big Breezy. . . err New Orleans.

At any rate, it's gorgeous here now. Sunny with a few clouds, but with a nice firm breeze.

Will be keeping my eye on the site for as long as I have power / internet. I'll post some pics when the action starts. =P

    Everyone stay safe!

She just posted that it was moving again. She didn't see the cause for the delay. Who knows.

Roll, really important question: I've got two fifths of Jose Quervo Gold to ride out the sotrm in Metaire. Will that be enough, or do I need more? And I just got a report that the lines at all liquor stores in the city aren't moving.
