    Question ISO files

Is anyone familiar with iso files? I am trying to burn an iso file to cd but can't figure it out. I'm new at this any help will be very much appreciated..Thank you.
I'm trying to do the following:

    Install Notes:
    1. Unrar the Archive(s) using WinRAR or 7Zip. This will produce an ISO file.
    2. Burn the ISO using a program such as IMGBurn, Nero, Alcohol 120, Blindwrite, ect... (Burn at a slow Speed to ensure no errors, 1x-4x)
    3. Change Bios Priority settings so it boots from the CD-ROM Drive First. (You may be able to skip this step)
    4. Insert Disc and Reboot PC, Follow the on screen prompts and enjoy.

I do it with Roxio [creator classic 7.5 is what I use over the 9.0 I also have]

With that I use the "Build DVD from 'image file' option which is what you have with an 'iso' file.

"Burn from disc image file.." is the option to do what you want............

Where do I locate the iso file? I have extracted the files to a folder but there seems to be no iso file not unless I'm over looking it.

    find *.ISO

how big was the original or starting file and what was it's 'extension' xxx.ext

somewhere they gave you a big file - say 25 MB to 2500MB --- I don't use 'Rar" for this just Roxio the big initial file. Roxio or whatever does the same thing as Rar.

The download for example for the Windows 7 Beta was between 2.5 GB and 4 GB with a .ISO suffix

Windows XP Performance Edition SP3 Sept 2009 - English Only

    Original Size: 595 mb
New Size: 179 mb (Difference of 416 mb)
(This is the Size of the ISO)

This supports ONLY English Language and English Keyboard Layouts.

This is a FULL Install. You CANNOT Upgrade from previous versions of Windows.
There is no validation required. This PASSES WGA. This works 100% with Windows Update.
I have included the CD-Key already in the install process. This means at no point will you have to enter it.
Some people using Macs or Virtual Machines might need the serial. See Serial.txt if you do need it.
Serial.txt is located in the download folder and in a folder on the disc/iso.
This has all windows updates through September 2009. This is has been tested numerous times with no errors.
This has minimalist Internet Explorer 6. (Use It To Download Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, Etc)
This is the x86 version (32Bit).

Updates currently work fine and this also currently passes WGA. As a preventative measure, I've also
included Office and Windows WGA Cracks which are in a folder called "TJ" on the disc in case they start blocking the serial number included.
You don't need to use these unless you can't get updates, or this is no longer passing WGA.

This is set to automatically log you in each time you start up. If you want to be prompted for a username and password
please see the "TJ" folder on the disc. It contains a registry patch that you can run to have it prompt for username and password again.
This folder on the disc also contains numerous other little tweak applications, registry patches, WGA Cracks & More.
Please look at it before asking questions.

In the "TJ" folder on the disc, in the folder called "Registry", you will see another folder called "Save_Icon_Layout". Whenever I install
new graphics drivers my icons on my desktop get out of place. This little DLL and Reg Patch will help with saving/restoring your Desktop Icon Layout.
To Install It: Extract the "LAYOUT.DLL" filder to "Drive:\Windows\system32" folder. Then double click the Reg Patch to apply it.
Now it should show up as an option when you right click on your My Computer Icon.

I have removed the original Net Framework that ships with XP. It's super old and outdated.
You can still download and use a newer version however. Just download the latest version from Microsoft.com or Windows Update.

    Notes:
If you are getting errors while copying files. It's your CD, not the release. Try burning it to different brand of cd/media and try burning at the slowest speed possible.
I just tested this in VMWare and it works flawless. You should get between 16-19 Processes and under 100mb of ram usage when using the computer initially. Everything you install/use will obviously increase this, however its the leanest XP Copy around.

At the first point of your process you have a single file somewhere between 180MB and 540MB

What is it's filetype? in other words it's 'extension'

if thats not an ABC.ISO file it's an ABC.XYZ FILE

using that single somewhat big file try running your software to

"Burn CD/DVD from image file ABC.ISO or ABC.XYZ whatever it's extension is

Don't RAR the really big file first

If you've RAR'd the really big file into all the component pieces then make yourself a CD/DVD from all the component pieces files but you'll miss the stuff and process to make it a bootable cd/DVD

A ISO file is a single transportable file of a cd/dvd image [in other words an instyallation setup on cd]

I'm trying to do the following:

At this point - what do you have for a single archive file, and what is it's 'filetype'? [extension]

    Install Notes:
    1. Unrar the Archive(s) using WinRAR or 7Zip. This will produce an ISO file.
    2. Burn the ISO [file] using a program such as IMGBurn, Nero, Alcohol 120, Blindwrite, ect...

If at step 1 you 'unrar'd 1 single file into many normal files use the single file there as the input to

"burn cd/dvd from image file....that one file is your image file

######### you're in Windows ---- make sure you've unchecked 'hide file extensions for known file types'

I have never worked with an ISO file, until now. I couldn't figure how to burn one to a cdr let alone know what one is. I did have some help, and a big thanks goes out to Fred for his help with this issue. For those who doesn't know how to burn an ISO file here is how I did it. I downloaded a program called powerISO you can download it from here:

    http://www.poweriso.com/index.htm

Please follow these instructions to burn an ISO file:

    Run PowerISO.

Click "Burn" button on toolbar or choose "Tools > Burn" Menu.

    PowerISO shows ISO Burner dialog.

Choose the ISO file you want to burn.

Select the burning drive and burning speed.

Click "Burn" button to start burning.

It took me awhile to understand what an ISO file is and how to burn it,but like I said before I had to ask for some help.If anyone has any problems downloading or burning an ISO file please don't hesitate to ask for help.

    thank you Fred,

    Issue resolved.
