There is a lot of severe weather that goes through where I grew up, at least 3 or 4 tornadoes a year.

Hackleburg Alabama in Marion County is where I grew up. The class is being held just down the road from there on March 12 at the Hamilton City Hall. They're offering both basic and advanced.

NWS in Lake Charles is putting a skywarn class together for those interested. I will post when I get a final date. Here is what I have so far:

Hi Jonathan,

I'm working on a possible date in early or mid March in Lafayette with KLFY.

When I get a date committed, I'll let you know.

I am planning on attending. Somebody has to represent HCW!
Here it is:
Quote:[Image: picture.php?albumid=12&pictureid=125]
We’re proud to continue our partnership with the National Weather Service office in Lake Charles and announce another Storm Spotter Training Class. We held our first joint class last year and trained around 150 people on how to spot, identify, and report severe weather. The class this year will be held at the same location - the auditorium on the campus of South Louisiana Community College - on Thursday, March 12, at 7 PM. The class is FREE and will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. You’ll see a Powerpoint presentation guiding you thru many aspects of severe weather. This is a great chance to learn more about severe weather to help protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors in times of bad weather. No registration is necessary, just show up a little before the class begins to get a good seat. You’ll find a map to SLCC here. Parking is also free. We hope to see you there!

I got this off of KLFY's weather blog.
