I'm reading this like we had winds around 85 mph. WTH? It's flat calm out there and I only live about 6 miles from Winter Haven.

I suspect I'm missing something. Anyone know what they're talking about?

What's even stranger is I usually get one of these messages once a week or so. Sometime they come out of the Tampa area too so it's not like it's the same message over and over.

It sounded like an automatic reporting station, but didn't someone have to enter it in twitter?

* iembot is the automated message bot that sent you that.

* winter haven, (ASOS), fl is "Automated Surface Obs Station" in winter haven, florida.

* 77.0kts from SSE @ 1549Z KGIF means that there was a 77kt gust from the SSE measured at 1549Z at KGIF (gilbert, fl airport)

Reading the above. At KGIF on the 25th of November at 1553 Zulu, automated weather observation reported 0 Knots or calm winds and 6SM (assuming the M was missing) 6 statute miles observation. What it is reporting and what iembot says are quite different.

As others have stated, may be a thunderstorm in the area.
