Can Someone Translate This For Me?
From Twitter... just received:

iembot_tbw #TBW: WINTER HAVEN (ASOS),FL (GIF) ASOS reports gust of 77.0 knots from SSE @ 1549Z KGIF 251553Z AUTO 00000KT 6S

I'm reading this like we had winds around 85 mph. WTH? It's flat calm out there and I only live about 6 miles from Winter Haven.

I suspect I'm missing something. Anyone know what they're talking about?

What's even stranger is I usually get one of these messages once a week or so. Sometime they come out of the Tampa area too so it's not like it's the same message over and over.

Think the weather people there are hitting the eggnog? :nono:

It sounded like an automatic reporting station, but didn't someone have to enter it in twitter?

* iembot is the automated message bot that sent you that.

* winter haven, (ASOS), fl is "Automated Surface Obs Station" in winter haven, florida.

* 77.0kts from SSE @ 1549Z KGIF means that there was a 77kt gust from the SSE measured at 1549Z at KGIF (gilbert, fl airport)

Hope that helps you out dude.

Thanks. That makes more sense. There were some wicked storms in the panhandle the other day.

BTW, I'm a dudette. /laugh4

Right on, my bad.

Well, if you ever get any more questions. Just ask them.

KGIF 251553Z AUTO 00000KT 6S

Reading the above. At KGIF on the 25th of November at 1553 Zulu, automated weather observation reported 0 Knots or calm winds and 6SM (assuming the M was missing) 6 statute miles observation. What it is reporting and what iembot says are quite different.

As others have stated, may be a thunderstorm in the area.
