Discord to be making forums of old obsolete. Make roll can look into setting one up. |

RE: HURRICANE IRMA
We were able to keep power until 8:30 on Sunday night in Lutz (north of Tampa). From that time onward, the winds picked up somewhat, and transformers starting popping on and off in the area, with the sky glowing green/blue, and occasionally a buzzing noise preceding the explosion. Surprisingly our lanai, which faces the west, was shielded from the bulk of the wind, so we were go out there and take note of the property during most of the evening without getting wet or blown away.
We also lowered the thermostat in the hours leading up to try to get the house as cold as possible before the potential power outage. Glad we did, as it helped with sleeping that night, though it was still uncomfortable. The peak wind gust noted by the NWS in Lutz was 56 mph. At one point, I had suspected that the winds may have been around 60 in gusts, so glad my estimate was close to the official report. During that peak period, we could hear trees snapping in the woods behind us (to our west), but never noted any trees falling in the neighborhood. Once daylight hit, our street was littered with debris from trees, but no larger branches of anything significant. Most of my neighbors stayed home and rode out the storm. On Monday cabin fever was setting in and without power at house, we wanted to get out for awhile. So we drove up to Pasco County and over to Lakeland for something to do, and see what the area looked like. Noted a lot of flooding at Zephyrhills, Lakeland, and eastern Hillsborough County. Also lots of downed trees, power lines and some structural damage. I posted an album of the photos on Facebook for anyone that wants to see them at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...6439053922 Power was restored 25 hours after it went out, which I'm very thankful for, given that areas nearby remain dark, and Pinellas County is still vastly without electricity. Our a/c is not working correctly now, and our a/c guy indicated that an internal breaker gizmo probably shorted out when the power was restored. He indicated that he has received several phone calls with the same issue since Irma passed. During the storm I checked in at HCW routinely on my phone and appreciated all the posts and updates regarding Hurricane Irma here. AARoads |

Sold my house in Hunters Green in February this year. Since no home ownership, not too much stress this time in Orlando. Whew. Glad you made it through safely. |

RE: HURRICANE IRMA
been without electricity since sunday. they turned it back on again this morning. we got alot of rain and wind in our area but it was all hit & miss. alot of big uprooted trees and big limbs down on most houses on the highway but just a few branches here. i stayed home and there were some howling winds and alot of rain that sometimes blew sideways with the winds. alot of flooding in different areas. just happy to be alive and that its over.
