Hurricane Archives?
Does anyone happen to know where (online) I can find information on past hurricanes? I am looking to find the name of the hurricane that went through or near the Miami/Hallendale area in the late sixties. I was very young at the time and can't remember the name.
Thank you in advance! |

Betsy hit just north of the keys in 65. There is an excelent book by Jay Barnes, Floridas hurricane History that talks about nearly every storm that has hit the peninsula in the past 200 years.
While not overtly scientific, this is a fun little page, especially for kids. It catalogues every storm from 1950 to 2003, and gives a java animation of the track for each, and includes information concerning the storms intensity, location, and date, etc. http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)/guides.../hurtrack/ Hurricane Andrew (1992) Homestead Hurricane Irene (1999) Homestead Hurricane Charley (2004) Punta Gorda I suppose I am just unlucky ![]() ...Chat is evil |

More research is needed here. Doesn't make sense from what I was told (years ago) that it would be Gerda. Wish someone was still around that I could ask. Thanks again for all the links. I haven't had a chance to try Jeffrey's yet - but I will!

You have to copy the url and paste it. If it doesn't work, do a google search for tropical cyclone tracker. It is not that technical, and overly simplified, but it should work great for your purposes.
