If something plows through here again, you can bet people will be getting outta town. Dennis scared alot of people who stayed for Ivan when there were reports it could have been a Cat. 4 at landfall. I thought I never would be relieved to see a Cat. 3 make landfall here. At least seeing the aftermath of Opal and Ivan gave me a good idea of what to expect out of a three.

Say hello to TD #18:
1041 PM EDT SAT SEP 17 2005 ...INTERESTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR TROPICAL DEPRESSION EIGHTEEN... THE SURFACE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS HAS BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED TONIGHT AND IS NOW TROPICAL DEPRESSION 18. THE SYSTEM IS MOVING WEST NORTHWEST AROUND 10 MPH. THIS SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO MOVE ACROSS THE FLORIDA STRAITS FROM LATE MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. ITS EFFECTS ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA ARE YET UNCERTAIN BUT RESIDENTS ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA ARE ADVISED TO MONITOR STATEMENTS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN MIAMI IN CASE WATCHES OR WARNINGS BECOME NECESSARY LATER ON SUNDAY. THIS SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO REACH HURRICANE INTENSITY AS IT MOVES ACROSS THE STRAITS. |

Well that was not nice Daniel. We just dont need it. Shoot.
This is from one of our local mets in Houston. Rollie knows of him. I need to alert everyone now that it may be another 3-5 days before we have a good idea where the this tropical system will eventually head. There may be a lot of fingernail munching for Southeast Texas for a few days. _________________ Dan Meador KHOU Weather I agree. |

" There is only one duty, only one safe course, and that is to try to be right and not fear to do or say what you believe." - Winston Churchill "In the history of the world, the true test of a civilization is how well people treat the most vulnerable and most helpless in their society. The sponsors and supporters of this bill believe that abortion is wrong because unborn children are the most vulnerable and most helpless persons in our society. I agree with them." - Mike Rounds, Governor of South Dakota |
